Socials and Field Trips
Orchestra students are invited to attend a variety of after-school socials throughout the year including an Escape Room Social, Ice Cream Social, Movie Night, and Main Event Social.
Additional day trips like the Houston Symphony Trip and Anne C. Robert Orchestra Festival are offered to specific classes.
Concerts
Performing Orchestras present 5 to 6 group performances per school year. First Year Orchestra performs at least 3 times with all beginning instruments combined.
Performance schedules are structured so that all orchestras can hear each other perform throughout the year. Audiences at orchestra concerts will see what success looks like across all grades and ability levels.
Contests and Festivals
Performing Orchestras have the opportunity to participate in University Interscholastic League Concert and SightReading Evaluations each March. Performances at this evaulation represent the most intense preparation and effort of the year. Each performing ensemble recieves ratings and feedback from a panel of adjudicators.
Seven Lakes Orchestra routinely participates in other music festivals and contests including the Anne C. Roberts Orchestra Festival, the Houston Cup, and the Texas Honor Orchestra competition.
Solo and Small Ensemble Performances
Although the primary focus of instruction and curriculum is large ensemble performance, Orchestra students do have opportunities to perform solos and in smaller groups like duets, trios, and quartets.
All beginners participate in Solo Festival and performing orchestra students participate in Solo and Ensemble Contest.
